#DaArtInU: Celebrating the face behind WHAT'S UP NAIJA ,  Nigerian-German Radio host Tony Airhenbuwa












 Tony Airhenbuwa originally from Edo state Nigeria is a mathematician by training and was a mathematics teacher in several secondary schools in Nigeria before moving to Germany where he resides for the past 20yrs .
Having attended several courses in institutions in Germany, Tony became a memeber of the Deutscher Journalisten-Verband in Germany for the past five years. 


He is presently a Radio presenter and Program Director with  African Heritage Radio on FM 96.0 in Hamburg Germany, before now he was with an online Radio station for three years called TopAfric Radio in Hamburg Germany.



WHATS UP NAIJA,
 his program on air which he produces is all about information, entertainment and show casing the rich traditional culture of Nigeria and Africa in general to inform both Nigerians at home and those in diaspora and our host country Germany.


In 2011 Tony Airhenbuwa was given a Merit Award presented by Ambassador Okoye of Nigeria Embassy in Germany,

2012,  he got the best Radio presenter Award from TopAfric Radio in Germany.,

2013,  he was given the best Radio presenter Award in Europe by Nigerian Europe award in Spain (NEU),

27-04- 2014 his programme  WHATS UP NAIJA was given the best programme on Radio Award in Rome Italy by NEU,

Also won the MBE AWARD in Manchester UK as the Best Promoter of Culture 2014.

And the African Diaspora Merit Award in Holland (ADMA) in the category Best Radio/TV  presenter of the year 2014.


Tony Airhenbuwa was honoured by Heritage magazine in Hamburg as one of the 100 most influential Africans in Germany on May  17th, 2014.

In April 2015 he was honoured with OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT Award by Africa 4 u in London UK.

Popularly called Tony Air by Fans and friends.

Tony narrates his happiest moment from his job was when German TV station came to interview him as he broadcasted live to the world.

Having to ask him his choice of  famous people he would love to have dinner with,  Tony replies "dinner with  famous people will be , President Obama, Gov. Adams Ohio mole and Pastor Adeboye" .

Tony Airhenbuwa  relates his legacy will be, to be remembered for championing the course of telling our story as Africans in Germany.
